Hi all on the oz-mpd site,
I would like to inform you of a clinical trial that is going to be conducted in Melbourne at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. My doctor has referred me to it.
It will be conducted at the Royal Melbourne Hospital - called "A Phase 1/2 Study of Oral SB1518 in Subjects with Chronic Idiopathic Myelofibrosis". This study is being sponsored by a company called S*BIO Pte Ltd (Singapore) together with S*BIO Australia Pty Ltd. It has only been trialled on animals at this stage so I will be a guinea pig. It works on the JK2 'gene' ( or whatever it's called). I'm not sure when it's starting at this stage as the Peter Mac cancer hospital has the first patient and I'll be the second. I've been on ifn since 2000 but it's not reducing my spleen anymore.
I will keep you all informed as I go. I must admit I'm a bit nervous as up to date, although the ifn hasn't shrunk my spleen it has kept my blood levels "normal" to such an extent that my doctor said someone looking at my cbc would think there was nothing wrong with me. So now I've gone off the ifn as you need a month to get it out of your system, and I wonder how my blood counts will fare without it.
Best wishes to all,
Joy Swedosh (69 y.o. diagnosed 1994 with PV, 2000 with MF)
